The Chappell with the Miraculous Cross !
Agioi Isidoroi or Agios Isidoros or Agios Sidereas is a medieval church, located in Lycabettus of Attiki. It is a small chapel, near the rock and a large cave. We informed that it was destroyed by a fire in 1930 and it rebuilt one year later.
The church, including the chapels, is dedicated to Saint Isidoros of Pilousiotis, to Agios Isidoros of Chios, to Agia Myropi (Merope) and to Agios Gerasimos. The name of the church based on an Icon that appeared in the hands of a priest, when he died.
In 1834, the fact that there were no many churches in Athens, citizens used to go on Lycabettus for congregation in the church of Agioi Isidoroi. From 1937, people started to construct inside the church. Many of these constructions were the iconostasis, the lectern, and the decoration of the church. Once a year, a litany happening, at the area of the church. In the years of the German & Italian possesion, the church was closed and the Italians found the opportunity to steal icons and many other silver objects, belonged to the church. After the war, the church began the congregation again. On March of 2001, citizens repaired the roof and they started again to decorate it. Trees were planted in the courtyard. The church was supplied with water. You can visit the church 7 days per week !
