Corfu Old Town
Fortresses, Palaces, Spianada and Liston square, the church of Saint Spyridon and Metropolis of Corfu, are some points of interest in the Old Town, which has been characterized as a World Heritage of UNESCO, since 2007.
Kampielo is the oldest district of the Old Town, where you will see many closely alleys and very tall buildings. There have been built by stone, one next to the other, with handmade tiles and artistic balconies, that they compose a unique canvas. The two Fortresses of Corfu, both old and New, demarcate the Old Town, while on it’s north side you will see the old port.

Visit the Old Town of Corfu from Spianada square and walk as you can ! Apart from the unique buildings, churches, squares and monuments that you will find on your way, you will see a lot of tourist’s and traditional shops which provide traditional products of the island ! Do not forget to take a coffee, a drink and a dealicius meal in the closely alleyways of the Old Town.
Ιn the alleyways of the old city, named “Kantounia”, which look like an incredible maze that you probably will loose your way easily, you will find one more old building of Corfu, in the address of Phillelinon 18. It has been built in 1497, and it is rumored that the balcony looks like as Julietta’s, that Romeo climbed on it.
Medieval and Venetian architecture of the old city, creates a beautiful environment, and you can see more, Kremasti’s square with the artistic stone well, the church of Saint Spyridonas, in which you can see the “body” of the Saint, the building of Ionian bank (built in 1846) and the City Hall which is an architectural monument.

You have to be sure, that the image of the laundry spread from one building to another, above the alleyways of the Old Town, is not the setting of an old Greek film, but part of the modern reality, in this unique corner of Corfu!
